#TimeBlocking

When building your time-block schedule, you should first reference whatever calendar or planner or organisation system you use to make sure that you’re adding time blocks for any meetings or appointments you already have scheduled.

The real decision then becomes what to do with the free time that remains.

To help make these choices, next consult whatever external system you use to track and organize all of the tasks, projects, long-term goals, or other obligations for which you’re currently responsible. You want your schedule to help you make progress on the right activities.

(In my case it’s my calendar and #OrgMode)

Left Side Contd:

  1. The metrics box also has a shutdown complete box. **Before you do that though,**
  2. At the end of the day, go through what you’ve done.
  3. Process your time block plan, see what needs moving
  4. Check your tasks and ideas, move them to you digital systems (#OrgMode) if need be
  5. Then go mash that box, knowing that your mind is empty and you can go relax and do home / family / leisure stuff

wrote the last few blogs posts on https://janusworx.com/blog using #OrgMode in #Emacs and then copy pasted them and rewrote them using markdown

Wondering if it’s worth putting in the time, to move #Writing completely to Org mode using something like @kaushalmodi’s #OxHugo

I forgot to link to org-web-tools in yesterday’s post.[1]

Been copying text manually from web pages into my #Zettelkasten since last June.

A year into my journey, I realise, I could’ve just used Adam Porter’s (#alphapapa) org-web-tools package to scrape it straight into my org file! [1] Just select the link, M-x org-web-tools-insert-web-page-as-entry and …
Boom!
The whole page!
Properly formatted! In my org file!

Better late than never 😂

#TIL: with #Emacs #OrgMode

I wanted to expand all my entries in my Org file, to see how large it had gotten, so I looked up how to do it.

To expand all tabs (org-show-all)
C-u C-u Tab

To close tabs to the startup visibility of the buffer (org-set-startup-visibility)
C-u C-u C-u Tab

Tada!

#TIL in #Emacs and #OrgMode:

If i want to timestamp an entry, I use C-c .
and if I want to do this *without* causing it to appear in the agenda, I use C-c !

The second step is pretty handy for me to date my entries in my decision journal.
I want to keep track of when I made a significant decision and my rationale behind it.
But, not something I want popping up in my agenda :)
