Some folks go, he takes 300 pages for something that could’ve been done in a hundred fifty.
to those folks, I say, suck it.

ala Taleb, the point with these books is the journey.

I read #TheTiger by #JohnVaillant in June.
The Amur tiger and the Russian Far East still haunt my mind and soul
Similar #Book recommendations, people?

Also #NoteToSelf:

Instead of announcing a ten hour work day and then being disappointed when you don’t meet it, shoot for five hours a day of actual art making: it’s still going to end up being an eight-hour work day.

This post by @ColleenDoran is excellent and helpful

I only share it though, because her middle aged grumpiness matches mine. To wit:

“The other day someone chewed me out for writing a post about setting boundaries and managing my stress.

Because to do so is a sign of privilege.

She can suck it.”

I’m sure @JensGustedt has a hidden philosoper in him somewhere. This description is pithy and genius:

“There are two categories of aspects to consider in a C program:

syntactical aspects
(how do we specify the program so the compiler understands it?)

and

semantic aspects
(what do we specify so the program does what we want it to do?).

In the following subsections, we will introduce the syntactical aspects (grammar) and three different semantic aspects: declarative parts (what things are), definitions of objects (where things are), and statements (what things are supposed to do).”

I think that’s C (and most basic programming) in a nutshell.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen!
There’s absolutley no way, I saw Intel bending the knee like this and cooperating, in their heyday

Evensong

if you ever hear me calling out
And if you’ve been by paupers crowned
Between the worlds of men and
Make-believe
I can be found

Long ago, and oh, so far away
I fell in love with you before the second show
Your guitar, it sounds so sweet and clear
But you’re not really here, it’s just the radio
